VOLLCAT
From Southern Roots to a Spirit Always in Motion
In Upper Egypt, where the Nile has carried generations of stories and where every village holds layers of history, the story of VOLLCAT begins.
According to the family’s inherited story, the roots of the El-Bess family trace back to Upper Egypt, around the region of ancient Abydos and the surrounding historic communities, including El-Araba El-Madfouna, Araba Abu Greisha, and Araba Hawara.
But this story is not simply about a family name.
It begins in a land that stood at the heart of ancient Egyptian civilization.
Abydos — known in ancient Egyptian as Abdju — was one of ancient Egypt’s most important sacred centers. It was deeply connected with the earliest kings of Egypt and later became one of the principal centers of the cult of Osiris.
From this land came the inspiration behind the symbol at the heart of VOLLCAT: The Cat.
